EU Member States

The European Union is a single market of 453 million consumers. It currently comprises 27 member states. For a brief introduction to each member state please click on the country names below.

Other European Countries

Europe as a continent consists of more countries than just those in the European Union (the "EU").  There are countries who are going to join the EU in the next few years, countries that may apply to join the EU in the more long term future and countries who have no plans to joining the EU at all.

Bulgaria and Romania to joined the EU on 1 Janurary 2007 and Turkey is currently negotiating its membership which is likely to be in a few years.

At the moment Russia and Switzerland have expressed that they have no intention of joining the EU.

Norway, Iceland and the Ukraine are countries that may look towards joining the EU at some point in the future but at the moment have not put forward an application to do so.
